OUR STORY

We believe the first bike should be unforgettable. That's why we designed Choppy from the ground up - an ultra-light, sustainable wooden balance bike, designed and manufactured 100% in Latvia (EU).

Why Do We Choose Wood Over Metal?

It’s not just aesthetics. It’s engineering.

Metal bikes are rigid. Every bump on the sidewalk travels straight up the frame to your child’s spine. Choppy’s curved Latvian birch frame is designed to flex slightly under weight. This natural damping acts like a shock absorber, smoothing out the ride without heavy mechanical parts.

Have you ever touched a steel bike in October? It’s freezing. Wood remains neutral and warm to the touch year-round. Plus, our marine-grade plywood is incredibly durable but softer on impact than steel, making it safer if the bike tips over during play.

Engineered by Parents

From University Project to Global Award Winner

Choppy began in the prototyping labs of Riga Technical University. What started as a student challenge, "Design the lightest possible rideable vehicle", evolved into a passion project.

We combined industrial engineering principles with traditional Baltic woodworking techniques. The result? We designed the ultimate sustainable wooden balance bike. A patented tool-free locking mechanism that eliminates the need for heavy metal bolts.

Weighing just 2.4kg, Choppy is the lightest children's bike in its class.

Today, every Choppy is still inspected by hand in Riga to ensure it meets the strict EN 71 Safety Standards for children's toys.

Unlike mass-produced imports, every Choppy is a European-made balance bike crafted in Latvia, Riga.

Award-winning Design

Choppy has been recognized by the world's most prestigious design organizations for its innovative approach to children's mobility and sustainable manufacturing.Winning the Red Dot Design Award places Choppy in the same category as top European design houses. The iF Design Award confirms our commitment to ergonomic excellence.
